Kirim is a Berlin based illustrator and picture book author from South Korea. She studied Fine Art in Seoul and Visual Communication in Berlin. Her debut picture book, A Very Light Girl and a Very Heavy Girl, was published internationally and gained global recognition through multiple exhibitions in Bologna. Beyond picture books, she has explored illustration in a range of unique formats, showcasing her work across diverse platforms.
Kirim's work seeks to visualize layers of emotion and time that cannot be fully captured by language alone. The shapes and symbolic characters in her work are not mere stylistic choices, but expressions of her deep interest in visual language — where form, color, and composition function like grammar, or even like musical notes. In unison, these elements operate as visual poetry, conveying meaning through suggestion rather than direct explanation.
