Kirim is a Berlin based illustrator and picture book author from South Korea. She studied Fine Art at Korea National University of Arts and Visual Communication at Berlin University of the Arts, as well as Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin. Her debut picture book, A Very Light Girl and a Very Heavy Girl, was published internationally and gained global recognition through multiple exhibitions. Beyond picture books, she has explored illustration in a variety of formats, showcasing her work across diverse platforms.
Kirim's work seeks to visualize layers of emotion and time that cannot be fully captured by language alone. The shapes, textures, and compositional elements in her work are not mere stylistic choices, but expressions of her deep interest in visual language. In unison, these elements operate as visual poetry, conveying meaning through suggestion rather than direct explanation.
